A Reel Chick (me) in Notting Hill.
I’m writing this under duress. I see from my blog stats that the “About Me” page is one of the most visited pages on my blog. And when I started blogging in December 2012, this is what I had posted under my London Underground photo: A Reel Chick (me) in Notting Hill.
Yeah, I know, not very inspiring or “Follow” worthy. So if I hope to build a community of people who follow my blog, I better improve the “About Me” page!
I think my prior reluctance to expand on this profile is that I didn’t want to be pigeonholed. Also, I’ve never been good at “branding” myself. Don’t get me wrong, I think personal branding is one of the best things someone can do for themselves. The exercise—and execution—of personal branding can empower you to more boldly live your life, style and preferences.
But, I think my personal branding is a Venn Diagram. You remember Venn Diagrams from school, right? If not, here’s your refresher:
So, like I was saying… I’m not Classic, Bohemian, Retro, Vintage, Trendy or whatever other style categories there are. Instead, I co-exist in a bit of all sorts of categories. I like the flexibility of where I’m at, but I gotta tell ya, when I see a gal with Bettie Page bangs and red lipstick or when I spot a free spirit with wavy locks and Birkenstocks I am a bit jealous because when they wake up they know who they are going to be that day. For me, not so much. Maybe this explains why it takes me so long to get dressed in the morning 🙂
In taking a good look inward and at my posts so far, I think the best promise I can give readers is that I’ll write about the things that I like, including Romantic Comedies and chick flicks, home décor and DIY, food and recipes, animals (our dogs, especially), entertaining, style and fashion, and whatever else tickles my fancy on any given day. So, I hope you’ll Follow me as I skip through my Venn Diagram of Life.
