By now, all the fashion and entertainment sites have churned out their Best and Worst Dressed Lists for the 2013 Golden Globes event. Well, some of my faves made it on both lists, others not on any list. But that’s what’s fun about fashion and style… it all comes down to what you like and not necessarily what the Fashion Police like.
And, well, since this is my blog I can have my own list. So, (drumroll) here’s A Reel Chick’s Picks for the celebs who rocked the red carpet:
I love the fruit and veg colors. Mango on Zooey Deschanel and Tomato Red on Marion Cotillard. Yummy! So nice to see bold colors on the red carpet.
Funny ladies can be sexy, too! Kristen Wiig is stunning in a cut-out dress and Amy Poehler in Stella McCartney & Chopard is killin’ it in the tuxedo look. And one of my all-time favorite funny ladies, Julia Louis-Dreyfus in Vera Wang, looking oh-so-elegant. Julia’s best accessory? That awesome Colgate smile!
Okay, so let’s get these out in the open. Though slammed by the fashionistas I liked the above 3 dresses. Ariel Winter’s Valentino dress and entire look was absolutely charming on her. Some said it was too childish — imagine that, a 14-year-old girl wearing something youthful! What is this world coming to?! Okay, so Kaley Cuoco’s goth makeup wasn’t a great choice but I love the Zuhair Murad flesh-toned dress. It seems like the dress is literally flowing out from her body. I think that maybe Julianne Hough (in Monique Lhuillier) was channeling the ballroom dancer in her but tell me what woman wouldn’t love to bunch up that skirt’s gorgeous fabric and be enveloped by it all!
More flesh-toned looks that stunned on the red carpet: Helen Hunt in Dolce & Gabbana and Isla Fisher in Reem Acra.
Anne Hathaway proving that you can’t go wrong with Chanel.
Love Lucy Liu’s fishtail. Taylor Swift’s makeup and hair makes her look “all growed up” and sophisticated.
Heidi Klum and Julianne Moore proving once and for all that beauty defies age.
Kate Hudson (in Alexander McQueen) and Hayden Panettiere (in Roberto Cavalli): Black & White on the Red Carpet.
Jessica Alba channelling Old Hollywood Glamour with the Veronica Lake locks, Harry Winston jewels and Oscar de la Renta mermaid gown. Jennifer Lawrence statuesque and gorgeous in Dior Haute Couture & Chopard.
My first #1 pick: Halle Berry (in Atelier Versace) was universally slammed for her red carpet gown. But I loved it! Halle looks stunning. She rocks the cutout, the print ranging from nude to deep blush, and of course, her flawless hair and makeup.
In a tie with Halle for first place is Claire Danes. Her Versace halter gown reminds me of Halston 70s fashion (in a good way!). The plunging neckline, smokey eyes and glamorous blowout gives Claire’s girl-next-door look a whole new attitude!
